The initial salary will be negotiable within the professorial scale,
current minimum £55,259 per annum inclusive of London Weighting.
The School of Arts is seeking to appoint a professor/chair of
outstanding reputation to join its innovative research team. The
person appointed should currently be engaged with contemporary music-
making at a national and international level.
All the staff at Brunel are involved in contemporary music practice
and research, and we are seeking someone to enhance and develop this
rapidly developing group.
The person appointed may be a composer (in any field), performer, or
musicologist, with a strong core discipline, but fitting with Brunel's
ethos, the applicant will also ideally have an interest in examining
contemporary ‘interfaces’, for example, between music and technology,
composition and improvisation, creation and performance, music and
video, music and theatre, popular and classical cultures, European-
based music and other music, music and psychology, music and cultural
context.
They will be expected to help drive forward Brunel’s expanding
research agenda.
Duties will also include some teaching, postgraduate administration
and supervision, as well as the planning and strategic development of
the research and teaching culture for Music.
