Press Release Russolo Prize 

" Noise of snow " Festival organized the Bruitist Music Contest  
Luigi Russolo - Rossana Maggia  last weekend at the Soierie in  
Faverges. The aim of the contest is  to promote the music of young  
electroacoustic composers aged 35 or less. Bruitism  is a movement of  
sound art which appeared  on the 9th of March 1913 when the painter  
and composer Luigi Russolo published the manifesto L'Arte dei Rumori  
(The Art of Noises) inviting people  to appreciate the complex sounds  
of nature and industrial environment. This was an important paradigm  
shift in contemporary music as later with the musique concrete of  
Pierre Schaeffer or John Cage's 4'33"" of silence. 60 composers from  
28 countries took part in this 30th edition.

First Price Luigi Russolo : Yota Kobayashi “Kakusei” (Japan)
Second Price Luigi Russolo : Elia Marios Joannou “Vertumnus” (Cyprus)
Third Price Luigi Russolo : Valérie Delaney « La cité de verre  
» (Canada)

Mention  Rossana Maggia : Sergy Khismatov « Spring relapse » (Russia)
Mention  Franco G. Maffina : Sebastian Peter “Schatten” (Germany)
Special Mention  ot the Jury : Joan Bages Rubi « Signes vers l’autre  
» (Spain)

A CD with music winners to be published next May in Moscow by  
Monochromevision.
