FORUM WORKSHOPS
November 18-20, 2009 at IRCAM from 10AM to 6PM daily
In the Stravinsky, Shannon, Messiaen and Studio 5 conference rooms
The Fall workshops will be primarily organized around the idea of live
performance in all its forms.
Taking advantage of our historic collaboration with Cycling74 for Max/
MSP on the one hand and our récent collaboration with the German
company Ableton, Forum members will be able to get to know Ableton’s
Live 8 as well as the new possibility of including Max/MSP patches
directly in Live 8 thanks to Max for Live.
Continuing in the domain of live performance, Forum members will be
able to discover Gesture Follower, a program written in Max 5 for
gesture recognition and motion capture. The presentation of this
software will be accompanied by information on the latest developments
in the are of general public pickup devices (Wii …) as well as
research oriented devices (OSC, Arduino …).
Computer aided improvisation and score following will be also
presented respectively via the software programs OMAX-SVP and
Antescofo that will be demonstrated during sessions involving live
performers.
These workshops will also be the occasion for discovering the latest
version of the Spatialisateur – Spat 4.0 – a software program
indispensable for real time sound projection for concerts and shows.
In this already rich context, the Forum will organize a présentation
and a « hands-on » session of the software program Musique Lab
Maquette for the professors of the Ministry of Education.
At the same time as the workshops, IRCAM is organizing on November 18
at 7 :30 PM in the Petite Salle of the Centre Pompidou a public
discussion between Mathias Énard and the composer Raphaël Cendo
concerning his work « Introduction aux ténèbres » which will be
premiered November 20 at 8PM in the Espace de Projection at IRCAM.
Raphaël Cendo will be invited during the workshops to discuss his use
of IRCAM’s technologies in his composition.
