ROM - Festival Internazionale di Musica Elettroacustica del Conservatorio S. Cecilia, 14th-21st November 2010

Festival Internazionale di Musica Elettroacustica
del Conservatorio S. Cecilia
International Festival of Electroacoustic Music
of the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia
2010

The Conservatory of Rome presents the 3rd edition of the “Festival
Internazionale di Musica Elettroacustica del Conservatorio S. Cecilia”
(International Festival of Electroacoustic Music of the Conservatorio Santa
Cecilia).

The festival will be held from 14th to 21st November 2010.

In the past two years, still in November, the 1st and 2nd editions of
EMUfest, “Festival Internazionale di Musica Elettroacustica del
Conservatorio S. Cecilia” were held. For these two editions more than 500
works from 32 different countries were submitted to the festival committee:
of these 160 were performed; more than 80 performers chosen amongst
teachers and students of the conservatory participated and all concert halls
were always full. Among the halls the main one is the Sala Accademica of the
conservatory, equipped with a high quality eight-channel system which
enables high level performances. All the submitted works are also archived
in the “electroacoustic fond” of the Library of S. Cecilia conservatory. The
festival has been enriched by the hospitality of  Rome University “Tor
Vergata”, IILA (Istituto Italo-Latino Americano, Italian-Latin Americam
Institute), Scelsi Foundation, the Province of Rome and CEMAT Italy and
Associazione Nuova Consonanza .

The Conservatory of Rome with the 3rd edition of the Festival wishes to make
the event a permanent one as a commitment taken during the 1st and 2nd
editions towards the public, composers, researchers, performers and
technical staff. An event which is unique in Italy where the public can
experience the products of the most representative electronic music at an
international level. A November appointment in the heart of Rome's city
centre, for listening to the music of today while reflecting about its
techniques, instruments and expressive aims.

During the eight days there will be, in different locations, concerts,
conferences and special events.
For the first time in this 3rd edition there will be special days dedicated
to countries and an international composition competition. Two nations this
year, China and Argentina, will present some of their most significant
current works. In collaboration with Nuova Consonanza will be the
international composition competition “Franco Evangelisti”, dedicated
this year to works for piano and electronics.

The concerts will be performed by teachers and students of the conservatory.
Students will have the opportunity to create a lively relationship with
contemporary electroacoustic music my means of a direct dialogue with
composers and facing all the technical and expressive challenges related the
works on programme.

The works will be selected through an international call published on the
internet, with the intent of performing a relevant choice, giving anyone the
opportunity to participate.

All the works submitted for the 3rd edition of the Festival, weather
selected or not, will be held permanently in the “electronic music fond” of
the S. Cecilia Library.
