liebe freunde, bekannte und kollegen,
am vergangenen sonntag ist meine klanginstallation "amplifikation" im
ehemaligen straßenbahndepot auf dem e-werk gelände weimar eröffnet
worden. das tramdepot ist eines von drei stationen des klangkunst-
parcours der diesjährigen tanz-medien-akademie des kunstfestes.
das zentrale atmosphärische element des raumes, die vier großen
fenster, werden in form von jeweils vier glasplatten verdoppelt und
in den raum verschoben. es geht um transparenz und hindurchscheinen.
die wie bilder einer galerie aufgehängten platten werden akustisch
"belichtet", indem sie jeweils mit einem bakelitfarbenen transducer,
einem schwingungsgeber, verbunden sind und zu lautsprechermembranen
werden.
amplifikation beschreibt den vorgang, etwas, das sich unseren sinnen
entzieht, in den wahrnehmungsbereich zu transformieren. die arbeit
fungiert nicht nur als autonome klanginstallation, sondern ist auch
ausgangspunkt für die arbeit in der tanz-medien-akademie: über die
kommenden drei wochen arbeite ich zusammen mit ludger hennig (klang)
und jana unmüßig und diego gil (choreographie) in diesem raum. der
prozeß, in dem sich beide medien annähern, kann mittwochs bis
freitags beobachtet werden, während am wochenende die
klanginstallation alleine zu hören ist.
am 9., 10. und 11. september gibt es eine abschlußveranstaltungen, wo
man die ergebnisse der klang-tanz-kollaboration erleben kann.

dear friends and colleagues,
last sunday my sound installation "amplifikation" was opened in the
former tram depot on the premises of weimar's electricity works. the
depot is one of three stations along a sound art parcours during this
year's dance-media-academy of kunstfest weimar.
the central element of the site, four large windows, are reduplicated
in the form of sixteen glassplates which are shifted inside the
space, reflecting transparency and translucency. the plates,
suspended like tableaux of a gallery, receive an acoustical
"exposure", since each of them is connected to a bakelite coloured
transducer that transforms it into a membrane.
amplifikation is the process by which something that eludes our
senses is transformed into the field of perception. the work not only
functions as an autonomous sound installation, but also as a starting
point for the dance-media-academy: during the next three weeks, i am
working closely with ludger hennig (sound) and jana unmüßig and diego
gil (choreography) in this space. the process in which the two media
approach each other is observable wednesdays through fridays, while
on the weekends, the sound installation can be heard by its own.
a final presentation of the sound-dance-collaboration will be given
on september 9, 10 and 11.
