The School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) at Nanyang Technological

faculty position as either Associate Professor or Full Professor.
Successful applicants will contribute to the School’s development of
the undergraduate and graduate curricula as well as to research within
the arts, design and media disciplines. Applicants should possess a
strong background in professional interactive media art and also
university-level teaching experience, including supervision of
successful graduate student thesis projects. A strong national and
international reputation in the field, including a significant
exhibition or publishing record is a priority. The school has
excellent facilities, and there are many opportunities for creative
work and funded research.

A terminal MFA or PhD degree, and a strong record of professional
practice or scholarship, are expected. In lieu of an advanced degree,
the applicant must possess significant exhibition or related
professional and academic experience in his/her area of expertise.
International applicants with a background in transdisciplinary and
multicultural practice and research are encouraged. The successful

production profile, as well as a commitment to teaching and service to
the school. An open, collaborative approach, and willingness to work
across areas and departments of the school and university, is a
priority. This position will also involve administrative activities,
committee participation and development.

Currently, ADM offers a BFA program with six concentrations – Digital
Animation, Digital Filmmaking, Digital Photography, Visual
Communication, Interactive Media, and Product Design. It is developing
a BA in Art History and will introduce an MFA and a PhD in Art, Design
and Media in the near future. ADM’s programs embrace imagination,
innovation, and critical thinking within a strongly multicultural and
global context. They foster individual authorship as well as
collaboration and cooperation among diverse fields and constituencies.

Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas, whose
work demonstrates sophistication of both concept and technique, are
encouraged to apply:

1. Game design and development

2. Physical computing

3. Cultural computing

4. Immersive systems for augmented (AR) or virtual reality (VR)

5. Locative and mobile media

6. Embedded systems and ubiquitous computing

7. Emerging media technologies

Programming experience with Max/MSP, Pure Data/GEM, Arduino,
Processing, and/or other open source languages and systems are
essential. A first-hand understanding or knowledge of relevant
industries involved, awareness of trends in the use of creativity
technology within emerging industries is important.

Candidates should have excellent written and oral communication
skills, with in-depth knowledge of traditional and contemporary
aesthetic issues and related techniques, including (but not limited
to) conceptual, installation, performance art and new genres.
Knowledge of gallery, museum, and exhibition venues is helpful.

Applications must be clearly marked “Associate Professor Position:
Interactive Media Art, School of Art Design and Media” or “Full
Professor Position: Interactive Media Art, School of Art Design and
Media”. Electronic submission of application is encouraged.

Applications will close on September 30, 2010. The successful
