£30,424 – £44,607 p.a. (Grade 7 or 8)
The School of Music at Bangor University seeks to appoint a Lecturer who will further enhance the School’s very diverse research and teaching environment. The successful candidate will have academic expertise in at least one of the following areas, broadly defined: performance (including performance practice, performance pedagogy, etc.), musicology (including historical musicology, analysis, theory, and editing, concerning any period including the present day, and including also popular, traditional and non-Western music), composition (including multi-media applications, electroacoustic composition and sonic art), and/or applications of music in other fields (e.g. health and well-being, social work, etc.). Of particular interest are applications from candidates who are also practitioners, and applications are especially welcome from researchers whose precise fields of study closely complement existing specialisms within the School. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic teacher, and an established or emerging researcher working at an international level.
Music at Bangor is undergoing a period of growth and investment, with a new arts centre (Pontio) opening in 2014, and plans for major renovation of our existing facilities (including two fine concert halls) over the next 2-3 years. The last RAE graded 70% of musical research at Bangor as internationally excellent or world leading, and it is expected that the new Lecturer will make a strong contribution to our 2014 REF submission.
This is a fixed-term post of 12 months’ duration, beginning on 1 September 2013.
Interested applicants are warmly invited to contact the Head of School, Dr Chris Collins, (c.collins@bangor.ac.uk), for informal discussion.
Applications will only be accepted via jobs.bangor.ac.uk our on-line recruitment website. However, in cases of access issues due to disability, paper application forms are available by telephoning01248 383865.
Closing date for applications: Friday, 21 June 2013
Committed To Equal Opportunities.
