Call for Contributions

Luigi Nono’s entry into Italy’s communist party in 1952 was in many
respects
only the beginning of a political commitment that would be central to
the
composer’s life for decades to come. Unlike many other composers, Nono’s
political attitude defined his position as a composer in the society; it
influenced many of his works and it inspired several activities (from
protest to scandal). It furthermore provided the basis for intensive
contacts and correspondence with political figures and intellectuals in
Socialist countries as well as for numerous travels. The political
aspect of
Nono’s music has already been the subject of several studies. However,
there
is as yet no detailed and comprehensive study of Nono’s relations with
Socialist countries and people living there. The projected publication
aims
to fill this research gap by focussing on this topic and investigating
it
from different perspectives.

For the publication we herewith announce a Call for Contributions.

to, the
