A night of sound sculpture and electronic composition

Italian composer Valerio Tricoli draws on music concrete and electroacoustic music to explore memory and self. Half-heard snatches of speech, radio, ambient sound and other bits of ephemera are processed and blasted apart, creating eerie and almost theatrical compositions.

With a background in contemporary composition, Beatrice Dillon creates music that resists easy categorisation. A restless and eclectic producer, she has created everything from thoughtful electronic ruminations to miniatures for percussion and sampler, while elsewhere she uses the format of club music to create decidedly non-club pieces.

Completing the bill, York artist Theo Burt makes playful and powerful electronic music. His album Gloss, recorded in 2009 and released this year on Lorenzo Senni’s Presto!? imprint, sees him rearrange and loop old Casio synth sounds, resulting in unexpected curiosities and bizarrely emotive music.
