Christer Hennix: Psychotropic Properties of Sound
Lecture
What has sonic psychotropism to say about current theories of mind? A preliminary assessment The author has had, sometime ago, a number of discussions with the late composer Maryanne Amacher and scientist Marvin Minsky relating to psychotropism caused by attention to sound. Last Summer, the topic was briefly touched upon during a symposium in Berlin dedicated to the work of Maryanne Amacher but not stringently delineated. In this talk I wish to reconnect with last Summer´s symposium and consider the topic in terms of its future possibilities. I will argue that the interdisciplinary field where sonic psychotropism may be studied in depth remains to be defined.
