CTM is proud to present the Recombinant Media Lab’s CineChamber at HAU
2. RML’s european CineChamber is a sizable and intimate, immersive,
self-contained space conceived as a mobile environment and incubator
for inter- and pluramedia works that range from wrap-around
synaesthetics to telegenic performance settings, from real-time
installation interactions with live music to programmed exhibition
screenings.

The 8×12 metre chamber is walled by 10 large-scale screens, features
8.8.2 multi- channel sound and a custom-applied kinetic floor
vibration units.

This full AV CineChamber can be „played“ or manipulated as an AV
instrument and urges artists the opportunity to take their creative
impulse to further ranges of aural, optical and cinematic expression.

CineChamber at CTM will feature specially commissioned pieces and live
performances by Signal (DE), Monolake Live (DE/NL), Deadbeat &
Lillevan (CA/DE), Edwin van der Heide (NL), as well as the Berlin
premiere of the great and late Maryanne Amacher’s „PlayThing“, and a
rotating „module“ program of bespoke compositions from a.o. Ryoichi
Kurokawa (JP), Morton Subotnick & Sue C (US), Semiconductor (UK),
Masako Tanaka & Markus Popp (JP/DE), Daniel Menche (US), Naut Humon
(US); Biosphere & Egbert Mittelstaedt (NO/DE), Skoltz_Kolgen (CA/QC),
Lillevan & Fennesz (DE/AT), Jochem Paap & Scott Pagano (NL/US), Scott
Arford (US).

[2] REGENWALD 2011 INSTALLATION/WORKSHOP – CALL FOR ENTRIES
**********

Regenwald 2011, conceived by sound artists Derek Holzer (US/DE) and
Mads Bech Paluszewski (DK), is a contemporary re-interpretation of
David Tudor’s series of compositions from the 1970’s entitled
„Rainforest“. It uses various types of sonic transducers to play live
sounds through various resonant objects in the performance space, as
well as through architectural features of the space itself.
Additionally, an 8×8 matrix mixer allows the sound from any of the
objects to be sent to any other node in the network, making the whole
piece an experiment in generative chaos.

Regenwald 2011 will be developed in a workshop format with up to 8
participants over a period of several days. The resulting work will
shift between relatively static installation-like moments and
performative sections where the artists seek new relationships with
the objects and each other. The audience is free to move around the
performance space, engage in conversations and explore the resonant
objects, thus adding new life to the rainforest.

A opening night presentation will introduce the concept of Regenwald
2011 and the context of „Schematic as Score“ as seen in the works of
both David Tudor and John Cage.

The Regenwald 2011 workshop is open for 8 participants. There is no

Build Your Own Synth
Do-It-Yourself-workshop by Leaf Audio (DE): participants build their
own synthezisers.

Guided Tour to Schneiders Buero
Excursion to Schneiders Buero, Berlin’s exceptional center for
electronic music gear. Introduction to and demonstration of various
analogue music hardware by Navs Modular Labs (DE).

Wellenfeld H104
Excursion to the exceptional Wave Field Synthesis space of the
Technical University Berlin with explanations and a demonstration of
the system by scientists from the Electronic Music Studio of TU
Berlin, Audiocommunications Group.

Roboter bauen – Roboter sein
A three day workshop for kids by Ralf Schreiber, Cordula Koerber and
Christian Fraubel (DE), that offers a playful approach to and a funny
exploration of robotics. After an introduction to electronics every
participant builds his own minimal robot, that will be presented to
the public within a performance at the end of the workshop.

Inventional Alltag
Five day series of workshops for kids and grown-ups at Kotti-Shop,
with international artists, curated by Annette Knol (NL) and Anne Kohl
(DE). Within the four modules Sound, Film, Projection and Choreography
various multi- and intermedia techniques will be explored, culminating
in a final public presentation in the form of a multiple, intermedia
environment.

Once again, the festival’s official audio compilation is presented in
association with the music download store zero“ and the De:bug magazine.

The CTM.11 compilation will present a cross-section of the festival’s
music program, featuring great tracks by participating artists. The
compilation will exclusively be available as a free MP3 download from
the zero“ website. It will be released two weeks prior to the opening
of the festival, on Monday, January 17.

With tracks by: Monolake, Hype Williams, Modeselektor, Cosmin TRG,
Gold Panda, Siriusmo, Zombie Zombie, The Field, Erik K Skodvin, Mark
Du Mosch, Raime, Half Hawaii and more to be confirmed.

Journalists and professionals engaged in the promotion, production and
distribution of music and media cultures – as agents, curators,
distributors, gallery owners, music labels, media centre reps.,
lecturers and so forth – may apply for accreditation at special rates.
Successful applicants will have free access to almost all CTM and
transmediale events.

The deadline for accreditation applications is 15. January 2011.

RECOMBINANT MEDIA LABS CINECHAMBER BEIM CTM.11

Als skalierbare und mobile immersive Medienumgebung ist die
CineChamber der Recombinant Media Labs (RML) ein Labor fuer inter- und
pluramediale Arbeiten. Die 8×12 Meter grosse Kammer ist vollstaendig
umgeben von 10 Projektionswaenden, bietet 8.8.2 Mehrkanal-Sound und
speziell angefertigte kinetische Boden-Vibrations-Einheiten. Die
CineChamber laesst sich wie ein AV-Instrument „spielen“ und fordert
Kuenstler und Musiker heraus, in neue Bereiche auditiver, optischer
und kinematischer Gestaltung vorzudringen.

Fuer die Installation beim CTM werden neue Kompositionen und live
Performances entwickelt von Monolake Live (DE/NL), Deadbeat & Lillevan
(CA/DE), Edwin van der Heide (NL), Signal (DE) und weiteren.

Zur Eroeffnung und als Abschluss wird als Deutschlandpremiere die
Surround-Audio-Premiere des Stueckes „PlayThing“ von Maryanne Amacher
(US) gespielt, begleitet von einer Einfuehrung durch die RML-Leiter
Naut Humon und Edwin van der Heide.

Von 2.-6. Februar werden taeglich Tag und Nacht vier 45minuetige
Programme im Wechsel gezeigt, mit Kompositionen von u.a. Ryoichi
Kurokawa (JP), Morton Subotnick & Sue C (US), Semiconductor (UK),
Masako Tanaka & Markus Popp (JP/DE), Daniel Menche (US), Naut Humon

[2] REGENWALD 2011 INSTALLATION/WORKSHOP BEIM CTM.11 SUCHT TEILNEHMER

Regenwald 2011, konzipiert von den Klangkuenstlern Derek Holzer (US/
DE) und Mads Bech Paluszewski (DK), ist eine zeitgenoessische Re-
Interpretation von David Tudors „Rainforest“ aus den 70er Jahren.
Mittels unterschiedlicher Transducer (Koerperschallwandler), werden
dabei Live-Klaenge durch verschiedene im Raum befindliche resonante
Objekte sowie durch die architektonischen Besonderheiten des Raumes
selbst erzeugt und gespielt. Ein 8×8-Matrix-Mixer ermoeglicht zudem
die Uebertragung der Klaenge von saemtlichen Objekten zu jedem anderen
Node des Systems und macht das Ganze zu einem Experiment in
kontrolliertem Chaos.

Regenwald 2011 wird vor dem Festival in einem mehrtaegigen Workshop
mit bis zu 8 Teilnehmern entwickelt. Das Projekt bewegt sich zwischen
Installations-aehnlichen Momenten und performativen Abschnitten, in
denen die Kuenstler neue Verbindungen untereinander und zwischen den
Objekten erforschen. Das Publikum kann sich im Performance-Raum frei
bewegen, sich an Gespraechen beteiligen, die Resonanzobjekte erkunden
und den Regenwald mit neuem Leben fuellen.

Zur Praesentation am Eroeffnungsabend wird das Konzept von Regenwald
2011 sowie die Idee des „Schematic as Score“ erlaeutert, wie sie sich
in den Arbeiten von David Tudor and John Cage zeigt.

An dem Workshop koennen 8 Kuenstler teilnehmen. Die Teilnahme ist

Roboter bauen – Roboter sein
Dreitaegiger Workshop fuer Kinder und Jugendliche von Ralf Schreiber,
Cordula Koerber und Christian Fraubel (DE), in dem es um die
spielerische Annaeherung, Erkundung und Erforschung von Robotern geht.
Nach einer Einfuehrung in die Welt der Roboter und der Elektronik kann
jeder Teilnehmer seinen eigenen Roboter bauen und am Ende in einer
gemeinsamen Roboter-Performance einem Publikum praesentieren.

Inventional Alltag
Fuenftaegige Workshopreihe fuer Jugendliche und Erwachsene im Kotti-
Shop, mit internationalen Kuenstlern, konzipiert von Annette Knol (NL)
und Anne Kohl (DE). In den vier Workshopeinheiten Klang, Film,
Projektion und Choreografie werden unterschiedliche multimediale
Techniken vermittelt und erprobt. Die gemeinsame Arbeit muendet in

Der Vorverkauf fuer die Konzerte und Clubnaechte im .HBC, Berghain,
