SACHIKO moved to Tokyo from her native Nagoya in the mid-nineties joining Jutok Kaneko’s Kosokuya as a vocalist. At the turn of the century she added improvised violin to her soundworld and played bass with Overhang Party alongside Rinji Fukuoka. At the same time she kicked off the shamanic vocal duo Vava Kitora with Yama-Akago.
„Sachiko sounds as if she is gargling planets as she levitates wordless vocals through a slowly shifting bible-black background of orchestral drone. Can’t think of anything that so beautifully combines the vision of the original Dream Syndicate with the aesthetics of dark Japanese psychedelia.“ – David Keenan (Volcanic Tongue)
RINJI FUKUOKA is a Tokyo-based psychedelic guitarist and violinist, founder of the groups Overhang Party, Marginal Garden, Tangerine Dream Syndicate and Majutsu no Niwa. Fukuoka also ran the Pataphysique Records label. He has played with Masayoshi Urabe, Chie Mukai, Tabata and more…
MICHEL HENRITZI is a French guitarist and Member of Dustbreeders (noise unit with Yves Botz & Thierry Delles) and Howlin’Ghost Proletarians (guitar duo with Fabrice Eglin). He already performed at the NK with Junko Hiroshige (of Hijokaidan) in the past. He runs the labels A Bruit Secret and Turtles’ Dreams and released a wide array of artists from Keiji Haino, Otomo Yoshihide, Tetuzi Akiyama as well as Axel Dörner’s first ever solo CD. Henritzi has a long association with musicians from Japan having played with Tetuzi Akiyama, Jojo Hiroshige (Hijokaidan), Kumiko Karino, Masayoshi Urabe, Chie Mukaï, Tamio Shiraishi, Yukiko Nakamura, Fumio Kosakai (Incapacitants), Masafumi Ezaki, Taku Sugimoto and many more.
JACOB KIRKEGAARD is a Danish artist whose works are focused on scientific and aesthetic aspects of sonic perception. He explores acoustic spaces and phenomena that usually remain imperceptible to the immediate ear. Kirkegaard’s installations, compositions & photographs are created from within a variety of environments such as subterranean geyser vibrations, empty rooms in Chernobyl, a rotating TV tower, and even sounds from the human inner ear itself. Kirkegaard is a graduate of the Academy for Media Arts in Cologne. Since 1995, Kirkegaard has presented his works at galleries, museums, venues & conferences throughout the world. His sound works are primarily released by the British record label Touch and he is a member of the sound art collective freq_out.
