SUMMARY OF MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To lead modules and teach within the music technology field. This will
cover subjects relating to sound and the moving image, electronic
composition, studio production and sonic art. To lead and develop
modules and contribute to programme leadership. The post holder will
also be required to contribute to the development of postgraduate
provision in the field and ideally supervise PhD students.

Additionally the post holder will be required to act as year tutor for
around 100 undergraduates and perform personal tutor duties.

You will be expected to work along side other disciplines within the
school to ensure that the LCM philosophy of community of study
enhances the student experience.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Tutor students within the agreed pastoral and year tutor system.
Participate in the broader activities of the school in terms of
research, enterprise, performance and consultancy. Undertake research
and scholarly activity and attend to general administrative duties.

The post holder will contribute to the recruitment process at all
levels, which is vital for the future expansion of the area. Engage
with the marketing and communications teams to promote the field and
contribute to the school’s website.

To offer individual supervision, as appropriate, to students working
on projects or dissertations within suitable areas. To engage with the
academic community and to be prepared to contribute to lecture series,
should appropriate opportunities arise.
GENERAL

Lecture and deliver workshops and contribute to student learning
across a varied portfolio using a range of teaching methods. Work from
an informed position regarding theory and industry developments and
contribute to scholarly activity within the university.

Ensure that all University policies and procedures are adhered to and
implemented. Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be
required by the Head of School or designate.

Undergo, as required, any training and development relevant to the
post and to appropriate and agreed personal and professional development

Work as a member of a team

If you do not have a teaching qualification, you will need to
undertake the PG Certificate in Learning and Teaching within 2 years
of accepting the post.
