An der Hochschule für Musik Detmold ist im Rahmen des Projekts KreativInstitut.OWL zum nächstmöglichen Zeitpunkt eine
Forschungsprofessur für “Komposition und Sound Design für digitale Medien” (W2 analog, 50%)
befristet bis Ende 2026 in einem außertariflichen Privatdienstverhältnis zu besetzen.
Das KreativInstitut.OWL ist ein wissenschaftlich-künstlerisches Institut im Verbund der Hochschule für Musik Detmold, der Technischen Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe und der Universität Paderborn. Für dieses Institut wird am Kreativ Campus Detmold ein Gebäude mit 1.044 qm errichtet, welches Medienlabore und kreative Arbeitsplatzkonzepte bereitstellt. Im KreativInstitut.OWL werden 6,5 Professuren sowie Mitarbeitendenstellen in den Bereichen Musik- und Filminformatik, Digital Humanities, sowie Digitale Medienproduktion eingerichtet, um die Zukunftsfähigkeit der Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft durch Forschung und Transfer auf dem Gebiet digitaler Medien nachhaltig zu stärken.
Die hier ausgeschriebene künstlerische Professur vertritt den Bereich Komposition und Sound Design für digitale Medien. Sie initiiert multimediale und transdisziplinäre Projekte sowie Forschungsvorhaben in den Gebieten Sound Design und Komposition für VR/AR, multimediale Komposition, Sound- und Videoinstallationen, computerbasierte Musikinstrumente sowie Sound Design für Spiele, Film und interaktive Medien. Es sollen aktuelle Technologien kreativ erprobt werden, zum Beispiel die künstlerische Anwendung von Künstlicher Intelligenz, Deep Learning und Deep Fakes. Außerdem sollen neue Medienprodukte entwickelt, deren Einsatz erforscht und in Hinblick auf ihre Marktfähigkeit geprüft werden.
Wir suchen eine Persönlichkeit mit internationalem Renommee, die über eine ausgewiesene künstlerische Expertise verfügt. Voraussetzung ist ein abgeschlossenes Studium oder Doktorat in einem verwandten künstlerischen oder technischen Gebiet. Ein weitreichendes Verständnis von digitaler Klangverarbeitung und Programmierung sowie sehr gute Studio-Kenntnisse sind erforderlich. Erfahrung beim Management und bei der Umsetzung komplexer digitaler Projekte sowie Kenntnisse im Bereich Artistic Research sind erwünscht. Zudem ist eine besondere Affinität zum Sound Design für VR/AR wünschenswert. Wir erwarten Ihre eigene Interpretation zu dem hier genannten Profil.
Insbesondere soll die Professur interdisziplinär mit den neu eingerichteten Professuren im KreativInstitut.OWL zusammenwirken sowie darüber hinaus die Profilbereiche der Hochschulen (insbesondere ETI und ZeMFI) und die Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft stärken. Sie beteiligen sich aktiv bei der Einwerbung von Drittmitteln mit regionalen und überregionalen Partnerinnen und Partnern sowie bei der Erstellung von Forschungsanträgen. Die Professur ist als Teil der Kollegialleitung des KreativInstituts.OWL mitverantwortlich für dessen Betrieb und strategische Weiterentwicklung. Der Professur ist eine Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeitendenstelle im Umfang von 50 % zugeordnet.
Im Übrigen ergeben sich die Einstellungsvoraussetzungen aus § 29 Abs. 1 des Gesetzes über die Kunsthochschulen des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen (KunstHG).

The KreativInstitut.OWL is a scientific and artistic institute in the network of the University of Music Detmold, the OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts and the University of Paderborn. For this institute, a 1,044 square meter building is being erected on the Kreativ Campus Detmold, which will provide media laboratories and creative workplace concepts. The artistic professorship advertised here represents the field of composition and sound design for digital media. The professorship initiates multimedia and transdisciplinary projects as well as research projects in the fields of sound design and composition for VR/AR, multimedia composition, sound and video installations, computer-based musical instruments and sound design for games, film and interactive media. Current technologies are to be creatively tested, for example the artistic application of artificial intelligence, deep learning and deep fakes. In addition, new media products are to be developed, their use researched and tested with regard to their marketability.
We are looking for a personality with an international reputation who has a proven artistic expertise. The prerequisite is a degree or doctorate in a related artistic or technical field. An extensive understanding of digital sound processing and programming as well as very good studio knowledge are required. Experience in management and in the implementation of complex digital projects as well as knowledge in the field of artistic research are desirable. In addition, a special affinity for sound design for VR/AR is desirable. We expect your own interpretation of the profile mentioned here.
In particular, the professorship should work in an interdisciplinary manner with the other newly established professorships in the KreativInstitut.OWL and also strengthen the profile areas of the universities (especially ETI and ZeMFI) and the cultural and creative industries. You are actively involved in raising third-party funds with regional and national partners and in preparing research proposals. As part of the collegial management of the KreativInstitut.OWL, the professorship is jointly responsible for its operation and strategic development. The professorship is assigned a 50% position as a research assistant.
Furthermore, the employment requirements result from § 29 paragraph 1 of the law on the art colleges of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (KunstHG).
