Concert Proposal

“ZÍNGARO” | PARRINHA | MITZLAFF 3io

Dear Concert Programmers,

We would like to propose a concert of the “ZÍNGARO” | PARRINHA | MITZLAFF 3io.

Carlos “Zíngaro”, central figure of free jazz and the European exploratory music with collaborations with Anthony Braxton, Derek Baily, Even Parker, Joëlle Leándre, Peter Kowald, Steve Lacy, Daunik Lazro, Alexander von Schlippenbach among many others.

José Bruno Parrinha, clarinetist and saxophonist with collaborations in various projects with João Valinho, Luís Lopes and José Ernesto Rodrigues among many others.

Ulrich Mitzlaff, cellist who regularly collaborates on various projects in the areas of contemporary “immediate composition”, electroacoustic music and free-jazz and has created music for dance, theater and cinema pieces. He has participated in several concerts and shows with Carlos “Zíngaro”, Nuno Rebelo, Vera Mantero, Carlos Santos, Josep-Maria Balanyà, Carlos Bechegas, Albert Cirera, Laurenz Theinert, Pedro Carneiro, Romulus Neagu, Vitor Joaquim, Américo Rodrigues, Emídio Buchinho , Paula Pinto, Stefano de Bonis among many others.

SYNOPSIS

The current so-called „immediate composition“ is the basis of this “ZÍNGARO” | PARRINHA | MITZLAFF 3io. It will be from this initial premise that the group develops its musical discourse, creating diverse expressive sound spaces that, although not directly referring to specific languages, will not be alien to the paths and influences of each element of this formation.

In this sense, the existence of an intense and diverse musical interaction will be predictable in this trio’s presentation. From “free jazz” to so many other approaches to the music of our days, including forms of contemporary music in its most random aspect.
