as part of the festival Klangwerkstatt, I will be playing my piece SCRAP – for ensemble and live-electronics with Ensemble LUX:NM. This will be a new version of this piece, with revised live-electronics.
The programme also features pieces by Stier, Klairtag, Zorn and Bertelsmeier and a premiere by Dustin Zorn.

DRESDEN – ENSEMBLE COURAGE – SNOWJOB – Klangnetz Dresden

Ensemble Courage has once again deemed itself worthy of their name – they will be playing my my piece SNOWJOB (2010) for Ensemble and light sequencer under the direction of Matthew Lynch. The piece, featuring 18 special guests – bike lights-, explores relationships between visual and auditory perception of movement, and lights can seem to be brought to life by a lively interaction with humans. Don’t miss this performance of a piece that can ONLY be experienced live in concert.
The programme also features pieces by Schneller, Perocco, Seither and Haapanen.

BASEL – LES TROMBONES DE BÂLE – INDUSTRIAL DRIVE
Markthalle Basel
Four fantastic trombonists have sunk their teeth into my trombone quartet, INDUSTRIAL DRIVE (2009) and have immersed themselves into a sound world inspired by the city Las Vegas and its surroundings. Drawing on field recordings made there, the piece deals with boundaries between internal and external realities and also stillness and overstimulation. The title is inspired by Industrial Road – a street filled with factories, garages and a number of strip clubs, where homeless “tunnel dwellers” emerge from the sewers at sunset to panhandle on the street corners – en route to the vast, harsh but beautiful Mojave Desert and minutes from the raucous Las Vegas Boulevard, where energy and water resources are squandered for residential landscapes and neon signs. A transcribed interview of a local in a destitute district is projected through a megaphone reminiscent of the loudspeakers blaring at every corner of the “strip”.
The programme also features pieces by Juillerat and Rosenberger.
