29.04.2015: Unii (JP) – Pedro Lopes (P) – Tobias Schmitt (D)
Unii (JP)
Japan-based Unii is a sound artist and singer-songwriter. Her live
performances evoke an awkwardly beautiful and elegant soundscape that
brings into existence a slowed-down universe of whispery sing-speak,
delicate coos, multitracked echoes, reconstituted field recordings,
digital clicks and blips, tempered noise and unorthodox beats.

Pedro Lopes (P)
Pedro Lopes is a resident musician in Berlin, with a vast curriculum of
collaborations with people such as Reinhold Friedl, Dj Sniff, Carlos
Zíngaro, Gabriel Ferrandini, Pedro Sousa, and many others; furthermore,
its a path enriched by radio art works displayed at Transmediale,
Serralves Foundation, or Goethe Institut.
Pedro makes of his instrument, the turntable, a vessel for a
experimentation discourse, of analogue tone, often recurring to
amplifiers, DIY pressed records, modified needles and percussive
objects. Pedro Lopes is one the most interesting and innovative
representatives of the exploratory music of Portugal.

12.05.2015: Helios & Hess (CH) – Sebastian Scherer (D)
Helios & Hess (CH)
The new project of Helios & Hess called “Lump” is about customs and
Swiss history. The two traditional terms – Reisläufer / Swiss
Mercenaries and Alpsegen / Alp Blessing – are set to music by Mike Reber
and Christoph Hess (Strotter Inst.). The two musicians work exclusively
with analogue equipment and field-recordings.The listener is taken on a
journey to another world of Swiss culture. The compositions by Helios &
Hess are based on analog instruments, manipulated turntables, loops,
sound-fragments and fieldrecordings. The tracks are lengthy and epic,
closer to weird storytelling than boring pop-songs.

Sebastian Scherer (D)
Scherer’s compositions oscillate between dub, drone, and 8-bit noise. In
KERBEROS, the subversion of vintage computing technology and traditions
of bass-music evokes claustrophobic, yet strangely familiar soundscapes
between subsonic jitter and intermittent data-bursts. This evolving
continuum is interspersed with samples of machinic fluctuations and
layers of resonant spaces. Complemented by dub-echoes and deteriorated
breakbeat remnants, an unsettling, but ultimately redemptive aesthetic
emerges.

27.05.2015: Eric Arn (USA) – Jung An Tagen (A) – HEXENEICHE (NL)
Eric Arn (USA)
American guitarist Eric Arn and his Primordial Undermind have mined the
farthest regions of avant-rock, free improv, drone and psychedelia for
over two decades. Arn began in the Crystalized Movements in the 1980s
(the band that spawned Magic Hour and the Major Stars) and rode with the
Undermind through residencies in California, Boston, and Austin, Texas
before settling in Vienna, Austria in 2005. Eric continues to perform
with the Undermind as well as solo, and as a member of Outer Vertex, the
Soft Power Ensemble of Vienna and the Vienna Improvisers Orchestra. He
released his first solo album, ‘Points of Fissure’, on Feathered Coyote
Records in 2013. In 2014 he has released ‘Alchemy in the West Country’,
a collaborative
album by Primordial Undermind and Thought Forms, as well as the premiere
release by Outer Vertex, an out-guitar duo with Christoph Weikinger (aka
Torùn).

Jung An Tagen (A)
Jung An Tagen is the primary music act operating within the VIV. Using
substractive synthesis and sampling techniques, Jung An Tagen builds
aleatoric arrays, repetitive figures & polyrhythmic moirés circulating
around distinctive timbres and haptic fragments, resulting in a vision
of morphing movements between high energy and zero gravity states.
Because of the synaesthesian nature of the VIV, Jung An Tagen is bound
very closely to a specific visual grammar and is intertwined with video
art, even though the performative settings are usually reduced to audio
only.
In the past Stefan was mainly present with different bands & monikers on
labels like Not Not Fun, Blackest Rainbow or his own imprint SF
Broadcasts. He has recorded with musicians such as Tom Greenwood and
Didi Bruckmayr, toured Europe and America and shared the stage with
artists like Whitehouse and Faust. He has also worked on covers, posters
and other graphic works for different artists e.g. Kevin Drumm, and as
experimental video artist with videos screened at festivals and in
exhibitions around Europe. Due to different aliases and other
disorientation strategies, it’s not always easy to keep track, yet every
part of the puzzle follows a distinct aesthetic idea about subconscious
states, body & time interleavings and identity itself.

HEXENEICHE (NL)
HEXENEICHE is a hybrid of some sorts: half Dutch, half American, mixing
individual baggage into something that combines the bleakness of
Northern Europe with the sensual heat of the American South. Both a
labour of love and a quest for progress, featuring a delicate layering
of tape loops into the infinite and spiking it up with rowdy beats.
Synths spitting out distant dubs from left of nowhere and a boy and a
girl trying to give it a meaning, to make some sense.
HEXENEICHE is a duo of Leilani Trowell and Steffan de Turck.
In 2014 they released ‘Boiler Room’, their first album on Dutch cassette
label Lage Landen Lawaai. Previous online recordings were released
online via netlabel Vatican Analog.
