Don Ritter
stellt seine Arbeiten vor
Don Ritter is a Canadian artist and writer who has been active in the
field of new media art since 1986. His work consists primarily of
large interactive video and sound installations that audiences control
through body position, body movement or voice. His most widely
exhibited work is Intersection(1993), an interactive sound
installation that presents the sounds of car traffic in a large dark
room. His work between 1988 and 1993 focused on performances of
interactive video controlled by live, improvised music. During those
events, he collaborated primarily with musician and interactive music
pioneer George Lewis. Ritter’s writings and public lectures since 2004
have been concerned with the ethical function of mass media and new
media art. He lives in Berlin and Seoul.

Was sind Sound Studies Lectures?
Die öffentlichen Sound Studies Lectures geben einen Einblick in die
künstlerischen, wissenschaftlichen, gestalterischen und konzeptuellen
Fragestellungen des postgradualen Masterstudiengangs Sound Studies.
Der Studiengang Sound Studies verfolgt die Idee eines
fachübergreifenden und damit fächerverbindenden Studiums des Klangs.
Ein Studium jenseits eines Musikstudiums, das aber dennoch die Musik
nicht ausschließt, ist neu und einzigartig. Der Begriff Sound Studies
ist angelehnt an den mittlerweile etablierten Terminus Cultural

Am 13. Oktober 2012 finden die Open Doors des Studiengangs statt. Hier
können alle Dozentinnen und Dozenten live erlebt werden. Danach
startet die einmonatige Bewerbungsphase für das Studium ab April 2013.
