About:

/bach/ and /cage/ are two closely connected sets of patches and

externals for Max,

aimed at bringing the richness of computer-aided composition into the

real-time world.

The Workshop:

During the workshop the following topics will be addressed:

Basics of musical notation with bach: GUI interaction with the

bach.roll and bach.score objects

Data representations of musical scores: the llll

Generation and transformation of musical material through the cage library

Manipulation of lllls through the bach library

In-place manipulation of the contents of bach.roll and bach.score

Score quantization

Constraint programming

Communication with other software: import and export of MIDI,

MusicXML, SDIF and LilyPond files

Conversion between lllls and Max dictionaries

Target Audience:

Composers, musicians and computer-music researchers with a solid

foundation of music theory and a basic knowledge of Max programming.
