Betreff: Hands Off – Theremin Symposium 2011
Dear all,
Some of you may be interested to know that there will be a Theremin
symposium in Scarborough from the 29th July – 1st August.
We will be hosting part of the symposium at the University of Hull
Scarborough Campus.
The symposium will begin on the Friday, with those taking part
congregating at Oliver’s Mount and playing a musical „welcome“ on
their instrument, which will be recorded and pressed on to vinyl.
Saturday will see the focus switch to the University of Hull
Scarborough campus for demonstrations, as well as talks from sponsors
Moog Music and Dan Burns Theremins.
The Sunday will see a day of masterclasses and 1 to 1 sessions with
the grand-niece of Leon Theremin, Lydia Kavina, who will be joined
later in the day by several other distinguished theremin players in an
evening concert at Scarborough’s Spa Theatre.
For more information about the symposium go to: http://theremin.tv/
Or if you can only make the evening concert on Sunday 31st August, you
can go directly to the Spa’s ticket bookings here: http://www.scarboroughspa.co.uk/whatson/whats-on-diary/july-2011/hands-off—theremin-concert.aspx
Among the names confirmed at the symposium are Carolina Eyck, Barbara
Buchholz, Thorwald Jorgensen, Olesya Rostovskaya, Wilco Botermans,
Thomas Grillo, and Thierry Frenkel.
For those of you travelling to Huddersfield for ICMC, Scarborough is a
two hour train ride, so if you fancy a pre-conference trip to the sea
side to witness some theremin magic this could be just the ticket!
