Key Accountabilities and Qualifications

Sound and Physical Interaction (SOPI) research group at the Department of Media, Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture is looking for a doctoral student to work in a project funded by the Academy of Finland: The Notion of Participative and Enacting Sonic Interaction. The research aims to investigate and develop computational models for enactive engagement of users in participatory interactive music context, and a toolkit system implementation in mobile platforms. The doctoral student will be responsible for the research and implementation, as well as publishing the results in international peer-reviewed journals.

The doctoral student must have a Master’s degree and possess a post-graduate study place in Aalto University or in any other equivalent University. The candidate also must have knowledge of digital sound synthesis methods & techniques and programming (especially in C, C++, Objective-C and Pure Data -libpd).
