I’m back briefly to offer this recording:

„He Saw the Cat“
7″ 33 1/3 demonstration disk, 1963

From the jacket notes: „The examples of synthesized speech on this recording illustrate certain fundamental characteristics of both artificial and human speech. Synthesized speech is a product of Bell Telephone Laboratories research into the basic nature of speech and hearing.“

This disk has the original version „Bicycle Built for Two“ that was replicated for Kubrick’s film, „2001: A Space Odyssey.“ I believe Max Mathews was involved in this, though the „scientists at Bell Labs“ aren’t name on the disk.

I would love to pass this along to an institution or music department that has a good collection, archive, or special collection of this type of material where it will be preserved and made available for research. If you are associated with such and are interested, please contact me privately at: dmooney023@gmail.com. This is a gift. I’m not looking for money.

Best–
