Very welcome to experience the sound installation Currents by Åsa Stjerna
as part of Ultima – contemporary music festival in Oslo 2011

The sound installation Currents is based on a scientific project in the ocean surrounding of the Faroe Islands,
whose research examines the inflow of warm waters in the North Sea and its links to the melting of ice on the northern hemisphere.
Currents is created as a site specific realtime-based sound installation in the monumental glass foyer of the Oslo opera house, in which the installation emphasizes and investigates the unique spatiality of the building.

som del av Ultima festival för nutida musik 2011 i Oslo

Dagligen 9.00 – 19.00 i operan
Ljudinstallationen Currents – Strömmar utgår från ett vetenskapligt forskningsprojekt i vattnet utanför Färöarna
som undersöker inströmningen av varmt vatten i Nordatlanten och kopplingen till smältningen av isarna
på norra jordklotet. Currents – Strömmar uppförs som en platsspecifik realtidsbaserad ljudinstallation i den
jättelika glasfoajén i operahuset i Oslo. Verket har utformats specifikt för att framhäva och undersöka
byggnadens unika rumslighet.
