The Department of Music at Columbia University announces a full-time
senior faculty position in Composition, at the rank of full Professor
with tenure, to begin July 1, 2012.
The appointee will be expected to carry out creative work; teach
composition and other subjects of intellectual interest at
undergraduate and graduate levels; and participate actively in the
development of the Department’s programs. We are open to a wide range
of aesthetic and technical orientations. We seek candidates who can
contribute, through their composing, research, teaching, and service,
to the diversity and excellence of the academic community at Columbia.
Achievement of international stature as a composer and proven
effectiveness as a teacher are the most important qualifications for
this position. A candidate’s potential for working closely with the
Computer Music Center would be viewed as an advantage, as would any
involvement that would expand the scope of compositional possibility
at Columbia.
