FRANZ LISZT Stipendium 2013 / Akusmatische Komposition

Die Hochschule für Musik FRANZ LISZT Weimar schreibt jährlich ein Aufenthaltsstipendium für junge Komponistinnen und Komponisten aus. In zweijährigem Rhythmus wird das Stipendium alternierend in Instrumentalkompostition und akusmatischer Komposition (Musik für Lautsprecher) ausgeschrieben. In diesem Jahr wird das Stipendium im Bereich der akusmatischen Komposition vergeben.
Den Stipendiatinnen und Stipendiaten wird für die Dauer von drei Monaten in Weimar kostenfreier Wohnraum, sowie ein monatliches Stipendium in Höhe von 1000 Euro zur Verfügung gestellt, um in Weimar leben und künstlerisch arbeiten zu können. Während des Aufenthaltes haben die Stipendiatinnen und Stipendiaten zudem Gelegenheit, am künstlerischen und akademischen Leben der Hochschule für Musik FRANZ LISZT und des Studios für elektroakustischer Musik (SeaM) teilzunehmen. Umfang und Art der künstlerischen Arbeit, die während des Aufenthaltes geleistet werden soll, werden nicht vorgegeben. Die Stipendiatinnen und Stipendiaten sind in der Gestaltung ihrer Arbeit frei. Die Stipendienaufenthalte sollten in der Vorlesungszeit stattfinden.
Die Mentorschaft für die Stipendiatinnen und Stipendiaten im Bereich der akusmatischen Komposition übernimmt Prof. Robin Minard.
Aufgefordert, sich um einen Arbeitsaufenthalt in Weimar zu bewerben, sind junge Komponistinnen und Komponisten. Die Bewerberinnen und Bewerber sollten möglichst nicht älter als 35 Jahre sein. Bewerbungen von Absolventinnen und Absolventen der Hochschule für Musik FRANZ LISZT Weimar sind nicht möglich. Die Bewerbung um ein Stipendium erfolgt mit einem formlosen Bewerbungsschreiben, dem ein Lebenslauf, sowie wenigstens ein akusmatische Arbeit beigefügt sind. Bewerbungsschluss ist der 30. April 2013.
Bis zu acht Bewerberinnen und Bewerber werden zu einem Workshop vom 12. bis 16. Juli nach Weimar eingeladen. Am Ende des Workshops wird jeder Teilnehmer öffentlich ein eigenes akusmatisches Werk auf dem SeaM-Lautsprecherorchester aufführen. Die Teilnehmer des Workshops zahlen eine Kursgebühr von 100 Euro; Übernachtungskosten und einen Reisekostenzuschuss übernimmt die Hochschule für Musik FRANZ LISZT Weimar.
Die Jury wird aus die Komponisten Robin Minard, Michael Obst und Francis Dhomont, sowie der Musikwissenschaftler Albrecht von Massow bestehen.

FRANZ LISZT Scholarship 2013 / Acousmatic Composition

The LISZT SCHOOL of Music Weimar annually grants a scholarship for a young composer to live and work in Weimar, Germany. The scholarship is granted alternately each year in the areas of instrumental and acousmatic composition. In 2013 the scholarship will be awarded to an acousmatic composer.
The scholarship recipient will be granted free accommodation as well as a monthly grant of €1000 for a period of three months in order to live and work in Weimar. In addition, the recipient will have the opportunity to take part in the academic and artistic life of the LISZT SCHOOL of Music and the school’s Studio for electroacoustic Music (SeaM). The quantity and type of artistic work to be produced during the stay in Weimar is not prescribed. The recipient is free to shape his/her work in the manner they choose. The scholarship should be used during the school’s academic semester.
Young composers are encouraged to apply. Applicants should preferably not be over 35 years of age. The competition is open to composers of all nationalities. Graduates of the LISZT SCHOOL of Music Weimar are not eligible to apply. Applications should consist of a cover letter as well as a curriculum vitae and at least one acousmatic work. The application deadline is April 30th, 2013.
Up to a maximum of eight applicants will be invited to a workshop in Weimar from July 12th through 16th. At the end of the workshop, each applicant will publicly present one of his/her acousmatic works on the SeaM loudspeaker orchestra. Participants pay a participation fee of €100; accommodation as well as a subsidy for travel expenses will be paid for by The LISZT SCHOOL of Music Weimar.
The jury will consist of composers Robin Minard, Michael Obst and Francis Dhomont and the musicologist Albrecht von Massow.
