Betreff: Concert by MEX Dortmund • Play with Elektronically Selfsteered And Selfplayed Microtonal Bass Flute
Preparation for the concert by MEX in Dortmund, Sunderweg 1, on April 27, 2018
Play with the electronically controlled micro-tonal self-playing bass flute and an acoustic micro-tonal flute. A fan blows the bass flute via a wind tunnel, a microphone-shield picks up the sound, digitizes the analogue voltages, sends the digital current to the micro-controller and uses this data to determine the next pipe length and a motor changes the length of the pipe. The flute plays itself: a self-referential system. The programming also allows a player to control the bass flute via the microphone.
The result for the evening at MEX following game options:
The bass flute plays „solo“;
The bass flute plays itself, while with an acoustic micro-tonal flute I create an interplay to these tones;
The bass flute is played and controlled by itself and from the acoustic flute and it realized interplay.

Spiel mit der elektronisch gesteuerten mikrotonalen sich selbstspielende Bassfloete und einer akustischen mikro-tonalen Floete. Eine Luefter bläst ueber einen Windkanal die Bassfloete an, ein Mikrofon-Shield nimmt die Toene auf, digitalisiert die Analogen Spannungen, sendet den digitalen Strom in den Microcontroller und dieser ermittelt aus diesen Daten die naechste Rohrlaenge und ein Motor veraendert die Laenge des Rohres. Die Floete spielt sich selbst: ein selbst-referenzielles System. Die Programmierung erlaubt es außerdem, dass ein Spieler die Bassfloete ueber das Mikrophon steuert.
Daraus ergeben sich für den Abend bei MEX folgenden Spielmoeglichkeiten:
Die Bassfloete spielt „solo“;
Die Bassfloete spielt sich selbst, waehrend ich mit einer akustischen mikro-tonalen Floete zu diesen Toenen ein Zusammenspiel realisiere;
Die Bassfloete wird durch sich selbst und die akustische Floete gespielt-gesteuert und es wird Zusammenspiel realisiert.
