Dear friends and music lovers,

Last weekend, the Kiezsalon visited two neighbourhoods for two sold-out shows. Thank you for joining us and celebrating the end of summer.

Up next, for our intimate season finale, we present three Berlin premieres: Seoul-based zither duo Dal:um, Georgian composer Mariam Gviniashvili, and Polish-Hungarian flautist Juli Deák.

The last Kiezsalon for 2026 takes place on Wednesday, 30 September at the Collegium Hungaricum Berlin. More than half of the tickets are already sold.

For our first visit to Moabit, we were stunned by Balladeste and Harry Gorski-Brown, whose strings, pipes, and vocals reverberated within the Heilige-Geist-Kirche’s humble yet impressive dome.

On Saturday, under the early autumn sun, the peaceful Museum Europäischer Kulturen garden was gently awakened by C. Lavender, Jessica Moss, and Richard Youngs. Thank you for joining us in the north and south of Berlin last weekend. Relive the program with our photos.

Unfortunately Tristan Perich was not able to perform. After a promising rehearsal and soundcheck, he had to cancel his show last minute due to illness. We are already working to bring him back next year, and we are glad he’s feeling better again. In his place, for the first time, Harry and Balladeste played together.

Wednesday, 30 September | Collegium Hungaricum

Defining new territory for Korea’s traditional instrumentation, Dal:umis the Seoul-based duo of Ha Suyean and Hwang Hyeyoung, virtuosos on the gayageum and geomungo types of zither respectively.

Blending minimalism, experimental folk, and abstract jazz into ethereal soundworlds, their 2024 album Coexistence was praised by Songlines as: “a deft fusion of Korea’s ancient musical traditions with modern influences,” while Chain DLK hailed it as “a rare achievement: an album that engages with tradition without ever sounding reverent or restrained.”

Mariam Gviniashvili

Wednesday, 30 September | Collegium Hungaricum

With a background as a singer and pianist, Oslo-based Georgian composer and visual artist Mariam Gviniashvili now works with electroacoustic music, 3D sound, and instrumental composition, surveying the emotional and spatial dimensions of sound.

She has been commissioned by institutions and ensembles such as GRM, ZKM Karlsruhe, MA/IN, Notam, Henie Onstad Art Centre, and Oslo Sinfonietta. The Wire described Rhythm in Flux, her composition for the 16-piece Orchestra of Futurist Noise Intoners, as “a staccato work of unrelenting if off-kilter propulsion.”

Juli Deák

Wednesday, 30 September | Collegium Hungaricum

Polish-Hungarian flautist and saxophonist Juli Deák bridges classical, contemporary, and jazz music through tender melodic lines, circular breathing, and percussive effects.

Deeply rooted in the classical tradition, her sound embraces experimentation, improvisation and folk influences. In both her performance piece The Breathing Project and new album Brisk, her focus has turned toward the physical language of the flute — breath pressure, airflow, resonance, and the subtle mechanics of keys and metal.

Half Light w/ Abul Mogard, Marja de Sanctis, and Rafael Anton Irisarri

Friday, 23 October | silent green

This project brings together four artists operating at the intersection of sound, visual arts, and perception. Italian composer Abul Mogardand Brazilian video artist Marja de Sanctis present the AV premiere of a new work extending the world of Quiet Pieces, Mogard’s critically acclaimed 2025 album.

Ibero-American composer Rafael Anton Irisarri performs a solo set of bowed guitar and reverberating drones, while Mexican sound artist Concepción Huerta opens with a magnetic tape manipulation.
