Music: Reid Chair in Music
Applications are invited for the position of Reid Chair in Music
within the Reid School of Music in Edinburgh College of Art. The Reid
Chair, named after Music’s initial benefactor, General John Reid, was
established in 1839 since when it has been held by a succession of
internationally renowned music practitioners.
The post holder will have a well-established track record, an
international reputation in music practice and/or scholarship, and a
record of recent work commensurate with an internationally recognised
profile for the 2014 REF.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience of leading
research at the highest level including building teams of researchers
and securing prestigious commissions and/or research grants. A record
of successful supervision of research students and research assistants/
postdoctoral researchers is also desirable.
In addition to making a major contribution to music practice and/or
research, the successful applicant will contribute to the wider
delivery of the College of Art and the Reid School strategic plans and
also play an active and collegiate role within the College of Art, the
wider University and the external environment, both nationally and
internationally.
Salary Scale: Within the Professorial Range
