The Faculty of Architecture Computing and Humanities Technical team is

seeking a Sound Technician. This is post is part of the Film and TV

technical team, within the FACH technical support structure and the

appointed person will be based in the new Stockwell Street Building.

The appointed person will provide support to staff and students in the

sound area. This role involves maintaining and developing the Sound

Design studios, field recording equipment and related systems. The post

holder will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the

sound studios & facilities and for providing specialist support to

colleagues, academics and students. This role requires a strong

commitment to service delivery and a pro-active attitude to developing

new skills and keeping up to date with the latest developments in the

field.

The post is responsible for developing a first-class service culture,

which will support learning and enhance the student experience. The post

holder will be expected to show initiative, judgement and sensitivity in

dealing with queries from staff and students.

The new post holder will join a team that will respond to enquiries from

staff and students in a set time and of high quality, ensuring

business/teaching continuity at all times. This involves working closely

with academic staff to ensure effective and efficient running of the

studios and organising the provision.

This post will play a key role in consolidating the faculty’s provision

in the sound area, supporting both teaching and research. A contribution

to our general technical demands will also be required from time to

time, giving the opportunity to work with the full team across our many

discipline areas.
