Maurice Lemaître (1926) is the last historical lettrist alive. He joined Isidore Isou and the lettrist movement in 1949 and since then published more than 400 books and created more than 100 films and thousands of paintings and photographs.
Gérard-Phillipe Broutin (1948) is the last member of importance having joined Lettrism after may 1968. He has developed a unique minimalist style in all the art forms invented by Isou – hypergraphics, imaginary art and excoordism – and also wrote 2 lettrist concertos. His new book ‚Oeuvres Nécrophilic‘ will be available at the opening.
This exhibition, curated by Frédéric Acquaviva, is the first lettrist exhibition ever to show in isolation the connection between two members of two generations of the group.
