Die Klangknstlerin, Radioproduzentin und Tongestalterin Sol Rezza
(Argentinien/Mexiko) prsentiert
eigene radiophone Arbeiten im Kontext verschiedenster
lateinamerikanischer Einflsse.
Sol Rezza wird zudem am 26.01.2015 im Rahmen des CTM-Festivals
im HAU2 in Berlin zu hren sein.

Since early in her life she developed a deep interest in radio and
media, which led her to have formal studies in the field of
communication. She has been a notable advocate of radio art and radio
experimentation in the radio scene in Latin America. Radio is her main
work ambient; nonetheless her works aim to experiment several approaches
playing with spatial resonances, surround, performance and live mixing
to create immersive audio experiences. She has consolidated as well a
solid reputation as an experimental composer, with several albums
reflecting an unusual mixture of narrative and sound design./

Her artworks are characterized by the experimentation with microphones
manipulation, sound modified objects, field recordings and audio editing
using layers of sound. By those means she achieves a wide variety of
textures in each of her compositions. Narrative and the constant play
with the symbols of the language is a fundamental point throughout her work.

Linux Audio Conference 2015 – Call for Participation

(Due to exceptional circumstances, this announcement comes a bit late,
so please note the early deadline of Feb 1st for submissions. We
apologize.)

We are happy to announce the next issue of the Linux Audio Conference
(LAC), April 9-12, 2015 @ JGU | Johannes Gutenberg University, in
Mainz, Germany.

http://lac.linuxaudio.org/2015/

The Linux Audio Conference is an international conference that brings
together musicians, sound artists, software developers and researchers,
working with Linux as an open, stable, professional platform for audio
and media research and music production. LAC includes paper sessions,
workshops, and a diverse program of electronic music.

Call for Papers, Workshops, Music and Installations

We invite submissions of papers addressing all areas of audio processing
and media creation based on Linux and other open source software. Papers
can focus on technical, artistic and scientific issues and should target
developers or users. In our call for music, we are looking for works
that have been produced or composed entirely/mostly using Linux and
other open source music software.

The online submission of papers, workshops, music and installations is
now open at http://lac.linuxaudio.org/2015/participation

The deadline for all submissions is Feb 1st, 2015 (23:59 HAST).

You are invited to register for participation on our conference website.
There you will find up-to-date instructions, as well as important
information about dates, travel, lodging, and so on.

This year’s conference is hosted by the Computer Music Research Group
(Bereich Musikinformatik) at the IKM (Institut für Kunstgeschichte und
Musikwissenschaft) of the Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU) at
Mainz. Being founded in 1991, our research group has been among the
first German academic institutions in this interdisciplinary field at
the intersection of music, mathematics, computer science and media
technology. In our media lab students are working almost exclusively
with Linux, and in our research we are also devoted to contributing to
the growing body of open source audio and computer music software.

JOB – Professur für Sound, KHM Köln

Professur für Sound (Besoldungsgruppe W3)

Bewerbungsfrist: 06.02.15

http://www.khm.de/nocache/aktuelles/stellen/stelle/article/3692-professur-fuer-sound-besoldungsgruppe-w3/nCall/237/

AUSSCHREIBUNG – residency at sea

Subject: residency at sea
Date: Sun, 21 Dec 2014
From: Rick

http://artrubicon.com/11760/23-days-sea-travelling-artist-residency-apply-feb-3-2015/

Access Gallery invites submissions for its new Travelling Artist
Residency Program, in partnership with Burrard Arts Foundation and
with Contraste agence d’art, titled Twenty-Three Days at Sea. Unlike
traditional residencies, which offer artists accommodation at a
stationary site for a designated period with the aim of producing a
new body of work, Twenty-Three Days at Sea is utterly unique: it will
offer selected artists passage aboard a cargo ship sailing from
Vancouver, Canada to Shanghai, China. Crossing the Pacific Ocean takes
approximately twenty-three days, during which time the artist will be
considered „in residence“ aboard the vessel. The inaugural two
residents will be sent to sea in August and September 2015.

STUDIUM – MSc in Sound and Music Computing at Aalborg University in Copenhagen, DK

Subject: MSc in Sound and Music Computing at Aalborg University in
Copenhagen, DK
Date: Fri, 19 Dec 2014
From: Kevin Austin

In its second year, Aalborg University Copenhagen offers a Master of
Science (MSc) in Engineering focused on Sound and Music Computing
(http://media.aau.dk/smc). The new academic year starts in September
2015. A limited number of spaces are available. Enrolment is free for EU
citizens.

This two-year master’s education provides proficiency in the foundations
of audio and music technologies, such that graduates can actively
contribute to advancing the current generation.

Coursework includes: sound analysis, synthesis and processing; music
perception and cognition; physics based sound synthesis and control;
novel interfaces for musical expression; sound for multimodal
environments; sonic interaction design; and music informatics and
machine listening.

Aalborg University works by „problem based learning“ (PBL), in which
each semester combines classwork with project work to increase the
extent and depth to which students interact with the subject matter, as
well as the faculty. With this unique approach to learning, students
gain considerable experience solving real problems individually and in
groups, and with collaboration by members of the faculty.

Furthermore, there are many resources available for projects at Aalborg
University Copenhagen, including high-end facilities and equipment, such
as: an anechoic chamber; a virtual reality setup with motion capture,
and a system of 24 surround sound speakers; an augmented cognition lab
with equipment for measurement biophysiological signals such as
electroencephalography (EEG) and electromyography (EMG); an electronic
and prototyping lab with 3D printing and laser cutting facilities; and a
64 channel wave field system array.

For a number of years, Copenhagen has ranked high in international
surveys for its quality of life.

More information can be found at the education website
(http://media.aau.dk/smc), or by contacting Professor Stefania Serafin
(sts(at)create.aau.dk). To start in September 2015, the application
deadline is April 1st.

A very limited number of tuition waivers for students outside of the
EU/EEA area may be available. For more info, see

Von: Visda Goudarzi
Datum: 18. Dezember 2014 13:18:36 MEZ

Call for Papers, Posters, Extended Abstracts, Music, Installations, and Workshops – ICAD 2015
“ICAD in Space: Interactive Spatial Sonification”

The 21st International Conference on Auditory Display

July 6 – 7 Workshops and Student Think Tank

July 8 – 10 Conference

University of Music and Performing Arts and Technical University of Graz, Austria.

The conference is organised by the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics (IEM). IEM is one of the leading institutions in the field of audio engineering and computer music. As part of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, IEM is a multidisciplinary institution, whose general mission is to bridge the gap between science and the arts. As a unique characteristic, IEM focuses on sonification as part of its research in computer music. IEM facilities include laboratories and performance spaces such as CUBE, which are equipped with spatial audio and motion tracking systems. Since 2014, IEM hosts the Sonic Interaction Design (SID) lab, in which interactive sound systems are designed and evaluated.

ICAD is a highly interdisciplinary conference with relevance to researchers, practitioners, artists, and graduate students working with sound to convey and explore information. The conference is unique in its specific focus on auditory displays and the range of interdisciplinary issues related to their use. Like its predecessors, ICAD15 will be a single-track conference, open to all, with no membership or affiliation requirements. In addition to ICAD’s core interests, we would like to take the opportunity of the conference being held at IEM to highlight this yearʼs theme ICAD in Space: Sonification, Sonic Interaction Design, and Spatial Audio.

::::::::::::::::: MUSIC AND INSTALLATIONS:::::::::::::::::

We invite submissions of music and sound installations. Sonification should be a constitutive element of the proposed works. Priority will be given to works employing space and interaction as additional dimensions to an artistic data exploration. We therefore especially encourage the submission of multichannel electroacoustic or acousmatic pieces and interactive sound installations.

The works will be reviewed by an international panel of sound and sonification experts. Preference will be given to submissions that are technically feasible and have a clear documentation of the setup. At least one of the authors who wish to have their works presented at ICAD15 must register and attend to the conference. As we would like to extend the presentation of these works beyond the time limits of the conference, authors of accepted works are encouraged to present their work also online using the Research Catalogue (http://www.researchcatalogue.net), an international database for artistic research. The conference page will provide a portal to these presentations.

Music Co-Chairs

David Pirrò and Gerhard Eckel

::::::::::::::::: WORKSHOPS ::::::::::::::::

ICAD workshops and tutorials provide in-depth opportunities for conference attendees to discuss and explore important topics in the field of auditory display with like-minded researchers and practitioners. Please submit concepts for “hands-on” workshops or discussion platforms, possibly allowing participants to contribute, but no paper sessions on their own. Focus areas can range from applications and programming methodologies to interdisciplinary research skills, emerging concepts, and challenge problems.

Space, facilities, technical support, and the number of sessions that can be accepted are limited, so early submission of proposals is encouraged. Workshop and tutorial organizers are expected to collaborate with the conference committee, issue calls for participation, gather and review contributed materials (if appropriate), and decide upon the final program for their session.
