Voices of Memory. A Riverside Sound Art Installation at the Irish
National War Memorial Gardens ist eine Klanginstallation zur Erinnerung
an die mehr als 49.000 Iren, die im Ersten Weltkrieg gefallen sind.
Diese Namen wurden 1923 in Ireland‘s Memorial Records 1914-1918
publiziert. Die Auflistung in acht Bänden wurde vom irischen Künstler
Harry Clarke wunderschön gestaltet und illustriert und ist in den Irish
National War Memorial Gardens untergebracht.
Fast die gesamte Namensliste wurde von Freiwilligen verschiedenen Alters
und mit verschiedenen Akzenten aus ganz Irland gelesen. Die
Klanginstallation basiert auf dem Klangfluss dieser männlichen und
weiblichen Stimmen, die am Ufer der Liffey erklingen. Die Namen sind in
alphabetischer Reihenfolge zu hören. Es gibt viele Personen mit
identischem Namen, die aber alle einzeln gelesen werden. Die Künstlerin
hat die Aufnahmen nicht wesentlich verändert, sie variiert nur die
Dichte, den Rhythmus und den Namensfluss in dieser
Vierkanal-Installation. Kurze stille Momente werden durch
Unterwasseraufnahmen von der Liffey unterbrochen, wie zum Beispiel dem
Rhythmus der vorbei fahrenden Ruderboote, den Tönen der verborgenen Welt
der dort lebenden Insekten und Tiere, und natürlich dem Flusslauf selber.
Die Installation wird vom 30. Juni bis zum 30. September 2016 in den
Irish National War Memorial Gardens auf der Südseite der Liffey hörbar
sein. Eröffnet wird sie am 29. Juni anlässlich des 100. Jahrestages der
Schlacht an der Somme.

For the fourth year in a row, Deutschlandradio Kultur – Radio Art /
Klangkunst and CTM Festival – in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut,
ORF musikprotokoll im steirischen herbst, Ö1 Kunstradio and the SoCCoS
network, and with the support of the British music magazine The Wire –
are delighted to commission two artistic projects. The call is for
unusual audio projects that couple the radio medium with the potential
of live performance or installation while also relating to the CTM 2017
Festival theme: FEAR ANGER LOVE.
The call is open to artists in the fields of experimental music, sound
art, radio art, new radio drama, and performance. The two commissioned
works will premiere in the form of an installation or live performance
at CTM 2017 Festival in Berlin (27 January – 5 February 2017), and then
be broadcasted in Deutschlandradio Kultur’s Klangkunst programme. The
Österreichischer Rundfunk (Austrian Broadcasting Corporation) will
subsequently present them via one or more of its platforms (depending on
the character of the works): the Ö1 Zeit-Ton or Ö1 Kunstradio radio
shows, and/or (in Autumn 2017), the ORF musikprotokoll im steirischen
herbst festival in Graz.
Proposed projects must explore the potential of combining radio and live
performance / installation within the FEAR ANGER LOVE thematic framework
of CTM 2017. They will be presented as a live performance or
installation as well as in the form of a 40–55 minute radio broadcast.
Prior to presenting their projects at CTM 17 respectively broadcasting
them on Deutschlandradio Kultur, the selected applicants will be invited
to round off the production phase with a 2-week short residency in
Berlin, realised in cooperation with SoCCoS – Sound of Culture, Culture
of Sound, a network project funded by the Creative Europe programme of
the European Union.
Last year’s winning projects, selected from over 300 entries, can be
enjoyed once more in Autumn 2016. The radio play „All Hail Mother
Internet“ from Tunisian artist Deena Abdelwahed will be presented 9
October as part of the festival ORF musikprotokoll im steirischen herbst
and broadcast live via the Ö1 Kunstradio programme. The second piece,
„GAD Technologies“ by Marija Bozinovska Jones aka MBJ Wetware and J.G.
Biberkopf, will be broadcast 18 September, also via Ö1 Kunstradio.
The call is not subject to geographical restrictions – submissions
from artists from all over the world are encouraged. Each of the two
selected works will be awarded a 5,000 € fee plus production costs.

Jury
The international jury will be comprised of five persons from various
backgrounds (artists, curators, journalists) and will be disclosed
together with the results.
Budget
The selected works will be supported by a production budget/fee of EUR
5000 each. Technical/staging costs for CTM and possible ORF
musikprotokoll im steirischen herbst festival performances will be
covered additionally, as will travel expenses to Berlin and lodging
during the residency and festival period.
Deutschlandradio Kultur and CTM Festival will provide support,
counselling, and general assistance during the production of the work.

„loop30 – Sound Art im Kulturhaus abraxas“ zusammen mit dem Augsburger
Label attenuation circuit ein ganz besonderes Konzerterlebnis:
Elektronische Popmusik unterschiedlichster Spielarten im Keller des
abraxas, der sonst nur einmal im Jahr während des lab30-Festivals

Das Konzert mit Ryder (Kanada) und Acrylnimbus vs Waffensupermarkt

Ein besonderes Konzerterlebnis an einem Ort im Kulturhaus abraxas, der

Ryder Haydale, vormals Gitarrist der kanadischen Indieband Mohawk Lodge,
bringt mit seinem elektronischen Soloprojekt
schwelgerisch-harmonienseligen Elektropop mit Krautrock-Space-Einflüssen
in den dunklen Kasernenkeller des abraxas, wo schon die U.S.-Soldaten in
ihrer Freizeit musizierten. Freundlicher Pop in unheimlicher Umgebung –
geht das? Acrylnimbus vs Waffensupermarkt machen die düstere Ambivalenz
der Konzertsituation zum Programm – nicht nur in ihrem Projektnamen,
sondern auch in der Musik: Tobias Schmitt und Guido Braun greifen die
Techno/Elektro-Elemente auf, die sich auch bei Ryder finden, und lösen
sie in dunkel dröhnende Geräuschlandschaften auf.

Die Kehrseite der Kunst / The B Side of Pop
Die innige Verquickung von (Pop-) Kultur und Krieg ist im Kulturhaus
abraxas allgegenwärtig. Bandübungsräume in ehemaligen Kasernenkellern
und im Haus gefundene Schallplatten von Amateurbands aus der U.S. Army
erinnern immer wieder daran. Eine Verflechtung, die weit über das
abraxas hinausweist: Auch die heutige Friedensstadt Augsburg hat ihre
B-Seite bzw. Kehrseite im „Waffensupermarkt“ der hier ansässigen
Rüstungsindustrie. Geht das zusammen?
Von Juli bis September lädt das Kulturhaus abraxas zu einer
Auseinandersetzung mit diesem Spannungsverhältnis ein. „Die Kehrseite
der Kunst / The B Side of Pop“ stellt mit Konzerten und
Medienkunstwerken verschiedene künstlerischen Positionen vor, in denen
es in vielfacher Weise um ambivalente Kehrseiten bzw. B-Seiten geht. Mit
dabei sind: Acrylnimbus vs Waffensupermarkt und Ryder (Mi 6. Juli 2016,
21:00 Uhr, abraxas / Keller) das Duo SCHNITT mit einer
Live-Vinyl-Schneide-Performance, der Artist-in-Residence von „Welcome in
der Friedensstadt“ Reinhard Gupfinger (Do 4. August 19:00 Uhr, abraxas /
Ballettsaal), und die Medienkunstgruppe lab binaer. Die aktuellen
Kunstförderpreisträger der Stadt Augsburg in der Sparte Bildende Kunst
stellen am Do 22. September um 19:00 Uhr zwei neue Arbeiten vor, die sie
eigens für „loop30“ aus Schallplattenfunden im abraxas entwickelt haben.

Im Zeitraum vom 30.06. — 02.07.2016 finden im Werkstattstudio
(Coudraystraße 13A, Raum 011, 99423 Weimar) des SeaMs, akusmatische
Konzerte statt!
Den Auftakt macht am *Donnerstag, 30.06.2016* ein
Repertoire-Interpretations Konzert. Angeleitet von Sebastian Peter
erarbeiten Studierende des SeaMs Techniken und Fähigkeiten zur
Interpretation akusmatischer Musik. Ab 19:30 h wird /De natura sonorum/
von Bernard Parmegiani über die 48 Lautsprecher des
Lautsprecherorchesters im Werkstattstudio zu hören sein.
Am Freitag, dem 01.07.2016 wird es einen langen Abend elektroakustischer
Musik geben. Im Konzert werden aktuelle Ergebnisse unserer
Klangwerkstatt A/B Studierenden erstmals öffentlich aufgeführt.
Im Zuge des Austausches zwischen dem Studio für elektroakustische Musik
Weimar (SeaM) und der University of California (UCSD) werden
Kompositionen von Katharina Rosenberger, Peter Otto, Caroline Miller
sowie Teresa Carrasco aufgeführt.
Der Musiker und Komponist Anthony Robinson lädt am *Samstag, dem
02.07.2016* um 19:30 h zu einem umfangreichen Einblick in sein
kompositorisches Schaffen ein. Es werden rein akusmatische Kompositionen
– welche über das Lautsprecherorchester interpretiert werden, als auch
komplexe sensorgesteuerte Live-elektronik Werke zu hören sein!

Hybrid Talks zum Thema „Visualisierung und Sonifikation“
Mit Visualisierung und Sonifikation wird die Übersetzung von abstrakten
Daten in eine visuelle bzw. akustische Form beschrieben. Hierbei geht es
darum, komplexe Zusammenhänge zu veranschaulichen, inhärente Strukturen
aufzudecken und Daten als eine Art künstlerischer Rohstoff für die Bild-
und Klangkunst zu verwenden. Die Vortragenden der Hybrid Talks stellen
Konzepte dieser Übersetzungsarbeit vor. Lassen sich Analogien zwischen
dem Visuellen und dem Akustischen ausmachen? Inwieweit ergänzen oder
behindern sich die wissenschaftlichen und künstlerischen Intentionen
dieser Transformation?
Die Hybrid Talks laden zur gegenseitigen Inspiration und Vernetzung ein.
Vertreterinnen und Vertreter verschiedener Disziplinen treffen
aufeinander und beleuchten aus ihrer Perspektive das Thema
„Visualisierung und Sonifikation“ in kurzen Präsentationen von je ca. 10
Minuten. Der Austausch über die Grenzen einzelner Disziplinen hinweg
wird im Anschluss an die Vorträge in lockerer Atmosphäre fortgesetzt.
Die Hybrid Talks sind ein Veranstaltungsformat der Hybrid Plattform, der
transdisziplinären Projektplattform auf dem Campus Charlottenburg.

In Form eines Konzertabends präsentiert Gilles Gobeil nicht nur eigene
Arbeiten, sondern interpretiert auch akusmatische Stücke von weiteren,
aus Kanada stammenden, KomponistInnen.
Seit 1985 beschäftigt sich der kanadische Komponist bereits mit der
Schaffung von Werken im Bereich Akusmatik und Mixed Music. Viele seiner
Kompositionen lehnen sich an das so genannte »cinéma pour l’oreille«
[Kino für die Ohren] an, andere sind von literarischen Werken
inspiriert, die über das Medium Klang visualisiert werden.

Masterclass Denis Smalley »Composition and Perception of Sonic
Spatialiszation
Denis Smalley will start on tuesday 28th june at 14.30 (2:30 pm) to
18:30 at the MUTprobe 1 room.
on wednesday and thursday the masterclass wil start on 10:30-12:30,
break, then 14:30 to 16:30 or longer. Wednesday and thursday the class
will be held in the WRF = wolfgang Rihme Forum with a loudspeaker array
of 62 points.
on wednesday evening the class will go to the ZKM (center for Art and
Media Technology) for listening a concert at 20:00 organized by Gilles
Gobeil with canadian electro-acoustic music, performed in the „Klangdom“
at ZKM.
on friday is no class, instead the »Music and Sonica Arts Symposium«
starts at 9:00, and the keynote of Denis Smalley will be held at 14:00
pm. „The Composition and Perception of Sonic Spatiality«
The final concert for the masterclass will be on saturday evening at
20:30 in the WRF. Works by Denis Smalley as follows: »Piano Nets«,
»Fabrezan Preludes« Clarinet thread«

MuSA 2016 Music and Sonic Arts Symposium: Theories and Practises
The entrance for all MuSA events is for the participnats of Denis
Smalley’s masterclass free!
Time schedule:
Thursday evening starts the seventh MuSA symposium with an installation
by Paul Natraj and a short welcome concert at MUT foyer and MUTprobe 1.
18:30 installation, 19:30 concert.
Friday, saturday and sunday are the presentations, beginning at 9:00
to 17:30 with several breaks /coffe breaks and the wor keynotes: friday
14.00 Denis Smalley, satirday 14.00 Pieter-Jan Maes from IPEM Gent.
Sunday the presentatiosn will end at 16:00.
On both friday and saturday will be a *double concert:
19:30 first part, at MUTprobe 1 (performances by presenters of MuSA)
20:30 second part, at WRF (on friday: ENACTIONS by Sarah Watts and
Miroslav Spasov; saturday final concert Masterclass Denis Smalley)

Werkstatt-Konzert der Teilnehmer*innen des Sounddesign-Seminars von Kai
Niggemann an der Kunstakademie Münster.
Es geht in diesem Konzert um die kreative Verbindung von Musik,
Geräusch, Sound, Klang, Noise und Stimme, den Umgang mit Synthesizern,
Samplern, Effektgeräten, Krachkisten, Fieldrecordings und akustischen
Instrumenten. Die Teilnehmer*innen haben sich im Sommersemester mit den
Möglichkeiten eines OpenSource-Studios im Laptop auseinandergesetzt und
präsentieren ihre Ergebnisse nun in einem Gesprächskonzert. Fragen,
Diskussionen & Gespräche erwünscht.

Hello,
Association Octandre for electroacoustic
music in Bordeaux is preparing the 2016-2017 season.
You’ll find attached a call for electroacoustic works for
this season. Please share where you think it might be of
interest! Octandre was
founded in 1990 by Christian Eloy and the students of his
electroacoustic composition class in the Bordeaux
conservatory, and widely collaborated with the Studio of
Creation and Research in Electroacoustic Music (notably for
the three « Prix Scrime » competitions in 2000,
2003 and 2007) as well as with other associations in
Bordeaux. Currently, Octandre wants to reaffirm its
place in Bordeaux and to open collaboration in France and
abroad. A website is being designed, as well as a Bandcamp
profile which will make available members’ music as well
as Octandre CDs and, during short periods of time,
works selected for the associations events.
If you wish to become a member of
Octandre (or if you want any information), you may

subscription bill
